Presidential Electors 2008

My mom is convinced I'm in trouble for bringing my camera into the voting booth. I don't think I did anything illegal. : ) I know my daughter is a very happy girl this morning. My husband, whom I haven't spoke with since Sunday, is not. I assume he will return back into the US today. : )
I stayed up past 1:00am last night watching the results, listening to the speech's and watching the country celebrate.
Now we need to get to work!
Change is coming!

V O T E

V - O - T - E
Vote, Vote, Vote!
All three of my family members have already voted via absentee ballots. I'll be in the voting booth after work today. It will be nice to have this very long election season behind us. If I never see or hear another election ad it will be to soon!

TAG, I'm it!

My daughter tagged me... so now I have to follow these rules as does everyone that I tag!!...
So here they are:
Link the person who tagged you.
Mention the rules on your blog.
Tell about 6 quirks of yours.
Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.
Leave a comment to let them know.

1. I bring my camera with me where ever I go. My friends & family are getting used to this, I think.
2. I always want to be the driver. NO one drives as good as me. I don't like being the passenger. I have to stop myself when I'm a passenger from not making corrections to the driver. Although, with my family I can't always stop myself from correcting. LUD spent several hockey seasons traveling with me, he knows what I'm talking about.
3. I like burnt food. Toast, English muffins, pizza, hot dogs, vegetables. Everything burnt except steak or cookies.
4. I hate reading a newspaper after someone else has already taken it apart and read it. I want to be the first to read the newspaper. I've even gone as far as hiding the Sunday paper so I can be first, I'm ashamed to say.
5. I shower in the evening, never in the morning.
6. I made a walking route 5 years ago & I'm still walking the same route. I like the mindless familiarity of walking the same path over & over.

I'm tagging the same fellow bloggers as Amie tagged. I don't believe anyone has blogged their quirks yet. Also, they are the only bloggers I know! So, Lilpoppy, Ke, Rachel, John, Leigh Anna & Kristen. Also, Mau, she was going to post her quirks on Amie's Blog.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My mother-in-law is always in my thoughts especially in October when I think about the importance of having screening mammograms. A friend who reads my Blog, told me she was several months behind in having her yearly mammogram and my blog reminded her to get that appointment. I had tears in my eyes thinking that maybe I did one small bit of good with my message.

What are the benefits of screening mammograms?

Several large studies conducted around the world show that breast cancer screening with mammograms reduces the number of deaths from breast cancer for women ages 40 to 69, especially those over age 50. Studies conducted to date have not shown a benefit from regular screening mammograms, or from a baseline screening mammogram (a mammogram used for comparison), in women under age 40.
From the National Cancer Institute Website
As the month comes to an end, I hope you still keep the message in mind and have your yearly mammogram.

Snow in October

We received 16 inches of snow overnight, the most on record for this day and it's still lightly snowing. I took all the pictures at 7:30 this morning.

School was cancelled but not work. I had no trouble with my drive in. It's a wet heavy snow and all our trees are bent over from the weight. Sad, so sad, all this snow & it's not even Halloween yet!

Book Club

The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. Tonight is Book Club. I am very excited to hear what the members of the club thought of my pick. We have several retired teachers in the club so I am hoping they can get over the football part and take interest in the education of a young boy part. I would recommend this book for men & women, teenagers to adult.
I'm the moderator tonight & I'm also bringing some cupcakes.

Have you ever read Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bon's? Angry Housewives is a great book if you are in a book club or think you want to be. I want to join the Angry Housewives Book Club!
