Opera House

I've lived in the area for 26 years and I never even knew this Opera House, only 22 miles from our house, even existed. This scene with flags is above the stage all the way up to the ceiling. I wish I would have taken a photo of the stage.
 The wooden seats are beautiful.
The wire below the seat is there to hold the hats of men.
The ceiling is beautiful and in great condition.
The Opera House was established in 1912.
I was talking to someone at the concert who lived in the area & she said her grandparents told of weddings, graduations & even funerals being held in the Opera House.

Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day, take a moment to remember the Veterans who gave their lives so we may enjoy the freedom that we have. Also, our lost loved ones, not a day goes by that I don't think of them.

Barbecue

Saturday evening Andy & Amber had all of us over to their house for a barbecue. The food was delicious and it was nice to meet Mike & Brian's girlfriends . Yes, the boys have a life outside of hunting!!!
Amie made me promise I would never wear Crocs. She made me promise again & again I would never wear Crocs. I saw the camo Crocs and HAD to buy a pair for Eric. Kristen thought Amie should have had me promise I would never wear or purchase Crocs.

Kristen is smiling even thou Eric loves his Crocs.

With the technology of today the boys are already looking at the photos I had just taken that afternoon. Did I mention how much I loved Eric's wide angle lens??
Brian delivered to me the hunting clothes that I would wear for the Sunday morning hunt. Yes Mick, I did get up at 3AM. Very, Very hard to believe.
Little did Brian know he should have brought me skunk repellent instead of bug spray.

Downwind Outdoors

I took about 150 photographs of the Downwind Outdoor Team over the past weekend. I borrowed Eric's wide angle lens and I now need to buy one for myself.
We had perfect, FINALLY, spring weather.
Andy was the camera man.
Brian was the shooter.
This was their set up.
Every time I do a photo shoot I learn something. I was so proud of myself for remembering to carry my extra battery when we left the vehicles to hike into the woods. Just prior to leaving we were going to take a group photo with me in the photo. Guess what???? My compact flash was filled. I left the extra compact flash in the car. Another weekend without of photo of me and I learned to carry both an extra battery & compact flash.

Morning Hunt

I was up at 3am yesterday morning to go out on a turkey hunt in the Town of Florida. Eric and Andy from Downwind Outdoors and two guest shooters Paul and Kristen were in our group.
The two below photos were taken at 5:30am.
It was a beautiful morning. Well, after I could see it was a beautiful morning. Hiking through fields in the pitch dark was quite a different experience.
As soon as we got settled in along a group of trees a scared and I would bet quite surprised skunk came along. The skunk actually came within three feet Kristen & I. I had no idea what was even going on till I looked down and saw a white stripe. We were all very thankful no one got sprayed. The Downwind Outdoors hunting crew heard the turkeys fly off from their overnight roost in the trees behind us, when Eric yelled to scare the skunk away. The decision was then made to move to another area and you know since I was the new "hunter" I took the blame for the skunk incident. A skunk scare-off was a first for the three hunters in our group.

The Dirty Life

When a book you select gets choosen for Book Club it's nerve racking. You hate when the members have to read something that no one likes. Thankfully, everyone liked my reccomendation. Also, it's a short read. I'm a HUGE beleiver that book club books have to be short reads.
I loved the book. Plus, I like that Essex Farm is a three hour drive from our home and where Mick's parents grew-up. Mau and Kelsey must read The Dirty Life.

Tip Thursday

A tip to freshen up the garbage disposal in your kitchen sink.
I purposely don't put anything down our garbage disposal, vegetable peels, etc., just the the normal waste ends up going down the drain. Next time you use a lemon or lime cut the rind into quarters and keep in a bag in your freezer. When you want to freshen up your garbage disposal throw a wedge down the disposal. A wonderful "free" way to freshen up your kitchen sink!!

Bathroom Remodel

Me doing actual remodeling work, work. Usually my work is designing, product choosing, paint colors, etc., etc.
There are about 38,692 holes that need to be filled in the new sub flooring prior to the new vinyl being put down.
When I first started I forgot to use the nice knee pad that Mick cut for me. It made a BIG difference on my knee's.
I was able to go over each regular nail & the brads from the nail gun once. The brads from the nail gun cover so much better. There are several nails I need to pound down a bit more prior to my second coat.

Funeral Family Photo's

May 12, 2009
May 5, 2011
So many families reach the stage when funerals are some of the few times that everyone gets together. This is especially true when family members are living throughout the United States.
I think we need some weddings to get everyone together. That seems to be the other reason that brings all family members together. I'd much rather celebrate a marriage.

Go Green

I talked about how I've been using cloth napkins for just over two years and how I was going to give up paper towels. Well, the last of our paper towels were used up on April 19. Mick is not happy about this. He says he will keep his own stash in his van. Along with his stash of incandescent light bulbs.
I have found that cleaning windows & mirrors is an issue when there is not a paper towel in the house. I can't use newspapers since I read the newspaper online. I had to add "one roll of paper towels" to my grocery list, I'll save just for the windows & mirrors.
Have you seen the "Go Green" stamps?

A lot of good ideas!

Aunt Mary Ellen

My one and only Aunt died on Saturday. (Mom is an only child and Aunt Mary Ellen is dad's only sibling.) She was 80 years old with four children, eight grandchildren and a great grandson. After being a widow for 31 years she is now reunited with her husband. In that I find comfort.
