Randomness

Does anyone play the Hangman game anymore? Does anyone under 30 even know what the Hangman game is? I used to play with my Grandmother all the time, I loved Hangman, I was a nerdy child.

I'm so excited for this weeks Thursday's Tip. It is one of my favorite tips. Just so you know, I do test all my tips to make sure they work. Mick thought I was going to blow the house up testing out this tip. My favorite to date is the one about the foil & plastic wrap. Out of curiosity, do you a favorite Thursday Tip? Maybe I need to get a life & stop posting on Thursdays? There are times when I consider hiring a Tip Assistant, someone to come up with & test out tips.

I finally finished a blog prize. Mickey put in a request for blue, green, & pink with a volleyball theme. I love how it came out. I hope she will although, she didn't get any pink. I had no idea the prize went all the way back to September. Sorry Mickey.

Homemade Pumpkin Bread

Last weekend I made Pumpkin Bread, the best homemade pumpkin bread there is and I have proof. I had a meeting at the house this Saturday morning & served some then. It was a big hit!

I bake the bread in tall ready to serve soup cans. One slice makes for a perfect serving. Of course, I can't eat just one serving. Lisa, the author of Fashion Noted requested the recipe. Lisa, this is for you any anyone else who loves Pumpkin Bread!
4 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 cup oil
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cloves
2/3 cup water
2 cups pumpkin
1/2 cup walnuts
Combine eggs, sugar, oil & mix well. Add all other ingredients & mix together. Pour into 3 greased & floured bread pans and bake at 350 oven for 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
Instead of bread pans you can use, 8 tall ready to serve soup cans or 4 coffee cans.
I freeze the bread right in the cans & open cans when I'm ready to serve.
ENJOY!

Breakfast with Friends

In the fall of 2003 Carol, Kathy, Sandy & I started meeting for breakfast. We meet on the first Thursday of every month, at 7am, at a local restaurant. Our daughters had just graduated high school and were in their first semester of college. It was our way of staying in touch. With our busy evening schedules there was no way we could have chosen a day or time to accommodate the four of us unless, it was a breakfast prior to our workday.
We have seen all four of our daughters receive their bachelor degrees, one graduate degree, one in graduate school, full time employment, moves to the west coast, a move to the east coast, a move down the street, a terrible accident, a cancer scare, 50th birthday parties, the birth of grandchildren, the loss of dogs, the adoption of new dogs and now all with empty nests. I would be there & do anything for my friends & it is a comfort knowing they would be there for me. We've only missed one month since we started and I hope we can continue for many many years to come!

Tip Thursday

Today would have been my fathers 76th birthday. He died of colon cancer at the age of 68. Prior to his diagnosis he never had a colonoscopy. The standard or "tip" for having a colonoscopy is starting at age 50 and then every 10 years. If you have a family history of colon cancer, you need to have a colonoscopy starting at age 40. If you fall into one of those categories make sure you get one done.

The above page is out of the scrapbook that I made for my Dad. The photo is from his Baptism taken in 1939 when he was six years old. I'd give anything to be able to show him his album.

I've already had two colonoscopies and they are truly not that bad at all. What really burns my a*s is not having a colonoscopy when there is a good chance you are preventing cancer!
