Operation Write Home Bloghop

This will be the second time I've made cards for OWH. I buy two packages of 8.5" by 11" cardstock and mass produce 200 cards.
Keeping with the bloghop red, white & blue theme, this is my card design. I used a cookie cutter for my star, stamping with stencil paint. Get out your cookie cutters, there are endless possibilities, hearts, butterflies, flowers, etc. I then misted the paint with water from a squirt bottle.

Then I cut strips from 12" by 12" sheets of scrap book paper, folded & glued the strips on to the bottom of my cards. Again, per the bloghop theme, two simple yet important tips.
Wash your hands prior to starting your cards.

I know from experience, dirty hands will leave marks on paper.

Keep your beverage away from your crafting area.

I’ve never had a spill but I know people that have ruined their project this way, and worse yet, someone else’s project who was crafting near by.

If you've made it this far, leave a comment PROMISING to give a monetary or card donation to Operation Write Home . I will randomly choose two comments for a set of three decorative scissors on Memorial Day. Mailing to US addresses only. Gifts to Operation Write Home are tax deductible.

Continue the blog hop here.

You are so right about the beverages! I have had a diet coke incident or two!

I have a box of cards ready to go to OWH. I'm making a few more on Monday to add to it and whatever I end up with is going in the mail Tuesday :)

I like your cards! Somehow when I am making OWH cards, I always seem to think "inside" the box- nice to see another kind of idea.

I have a small package ready to go to OWH on Tuesday- some cards I made and some Any Hero cards from my students.

Great card! And great tips. And, as a military wife, let me say thank you for sharing your creativity to help bring families closer who are separated by duty.

(And I have those same decorative scissors so no need adding me to the candy.:)

Love it! Now I don't have to feel so bad about my "good intentions" to bake, I can use my cookie cutters to craft! Terrific pleated ribbon effect too.

I regularly put all my lunch change into the jar at Scrapbooks & Etc to help Dixie with the postage... if we all did that it would really mount up. Love your ribbon folding.. saw that on DIY Scrapbooking but I like your technique better!

Great idea with the cookie cutters, just think of the money I'd save by not using rubber stamps all the time.

Neat card and great tips! I keep baby wipes close at hand. I'm thinking the cookie cutters and paint could get plenty messy! Thank you for making cards for our heroes!

What a cute, cute card.

Thanks for the tips -- drinks around paper is a disaster in the making (similar to drinks around a computer).

I will be rounding up cards as well as making some to send off to OWH soon.

OMG! I thought I was the only one out there using cookie cutters! However, I never thought to stamp with them. I've been using them to trace their lines on construction paper, then cut out cut shapes such as hearts, dogs and dinosaurs.

You are right about dirty hands. I have to get up every now and then just to wash the glue stick off. Yuck!
