Window Box

Just like last weekend, our weather was in the low 80’s and sunny. We went right from winter to summer, no spring, I guess we are being rewarded for our long winter. Even thou we are at least two weeks away from planting annuals I did plant my brand new window box. Mick made the box last weekend for the window on our garage. There is a plastic liner that I can remove and bring into the house if snow or frost is predicted.

I came across an online news service last week Brijit, pronounced “bridge-it.” I signed up and so far, I am happy that I did. I always think of my news junkie friends Mike & Terri when my daily selections arrive. Brijit breaks down articles from such places as NY Times to LA Times, Fox to NPR, stories on Nature, Home, Sports, etc. into 100 words or less. I didn’t count, but there must be 50 or more sources, you get to choose which sources you want to receive updates from. There also is a link to the entire article, if you want read the complete story. This is an excellent way to stay informed and there are no newspapers or magazines to purchase, pile around your house/apartment and then recycle. Only negative is how to justify more time spent at the computer.

Love your flower box! I love to see flowers, especially this time of year! With that news service, everyone can reduce their carbon footprints; just think of how many trees that would save :)

Nice flowers!

I put out my huge terra cotta pot 2weeks ago and the vine with the periwinkle flowers came back, again! That's 3 years in a row that that vine has survived the winter in the garage. It was cold enough in there to freeze beer, but that thing survives! I don't suppose recycling plants does anything for my carbon footprint, huh?

Freezing beer won't help it either.

Glad to know you like what we're doing. And for the record, we're covering more than 100 sources at the moment. ;-)

Best,

Sheesh! Who invited that Jeremy guy?

On beer and being green... did you know that beer can help green your lawn? Put beer in a hose end sprayer and spray it around the grass. It helps decompose all the thatch and dead stuff at the surface, allowing water to get to the roots of your grass. Just do not let your lawn drive for at least four hours after an application!

Actually,I did know that about beer and grass. I have set out to do that on a few occasions, but the beer never makes it to the lawn.....at least not directly. OK,that was a little over the top.....right,jeremyb?
