"GEL-Oh, come take a picture."

Mick & I keep very different schedules. He is up early, sometimes 3 or 4. He if grabs a quick nap after work, he may also stay up late into the night working on home projects. I require 8 or more hours of sleep a night. I love my bed! I was in bed on Sunday night & he was out in the garage working. He calls for me to come out & "take a picture of the moon." I really didn't want to get out of my warm bed on a 30 degree night but I figured it must be something to capture if he thought so. I got my robe on, grabbed my tri-pod, put the telephoto lens on and changed up the camera settings.
When I got outside and looked around I actually had to ask him what he saw that he wanted me to take a picture of. He wanted the half moon with just the one star in a black sky. If you look close you can see the one star, on the right side of the picture towards the top. Of course, I saw someone walking up the sidewalk while I was out in my robe & pj's. Thankfully, it was a teenage girl. Now you tell me, was this worth getting out of bed for? I think you know my thoughts. I received an email this morning apparently my daughter is now the blogging star of the family. She will always have one up on me. I much prefer being behind the camera, although not with pj's on.

Leaf Garland

I received an email from Pottery Barn with this great leaf garland and I had to have it. I've had an obsession with felt since we made our silverware holders for the reunion last Christmas. I would never spend $50 on something so frivolous. So, I spent $4 on felt and made a garland myself. I really wanted to use wool felt but that would have been a 60 mile round trip to a store that sold wool felt. I've worked on this on and off since the weekend. I'll leave this hanging in our kitchen window until Thanksgiving.
It was a fun project and I have enough felt left to make at least three or four more garlands. Although, one is enough for me.

Pose for the Cure vs Have your Mammogram

JELL-O vs GEL-Oh There is more than one GEL-Oh, you knew that? One is just a bit more famous. One is supporting Pose for the Cure. I'm just trying to get everyone over 40 to remember to get their mammogram each and every year.
In fact, a lot of businesses are joining in the cause. Since I have a lot of readers that are very fond of cats I thought this would peak your interest. If anyone gets the fourth question wrong I'm going to be very upset.

Cooking, Crafting & Celebrating over the weekend

Cooking
For the first time I made Chicken & Dumplings and it tasted DELICIOUS. I wish I would have taken a picture of all the beautiful carrot, celery, onion & mushrooms cut up instead of the gross looking chicken.
I made a double batch, I'm always concerned when I cook that I won't have enough. Don't know why. Thankfully, I only made one batch of dumplings so I can freeze the sauce.
Crafting
I started a new project. Everything I do seems to make a big mess.
I'll show you a picture once I have it completed.

Celebrating

The SU Football team didn't lose this weekend!

Pumpkin Patch

Although I didn't go into the patch, I was at the stand. As the Amish would say, this is an "English" stand. One thing, their signs are so much nicer than the Amish. I'm going to make a card using the below picture. I try to have cards for each of the seasons. Mick thinks I should sell my cards. Great idea except for the work involved would end up being more than the profit involved. They wanted $8.00 for the tower.
I think this is a heritage pumpkin. I did not like this pumpkin. I wouldn't even touch it. I did buy squash, only Butternut thou, which is not pictured.Unlike the Amish stands there was no one to assist you. The bottom of this jar was filled was money. I was surprised they didn't empty it more often.
Another work week comes to end. The weeks go by so fast but I'm hoping
the weekend goes by slow. I plan to stay home cook, craft and
unfortunately a little bit of cleaning. Hope yours is GREAT!

Chipboard Mini Album

I finally took some time to scrapbook and this mini album went together fast. It usually takes my forever to finish a project. I can't show you all of the pages since the dress appears on a couple pages and the dress tag is on a page.
The entire album is in black & white, just as it appears. I won't be mailing it off to her. I'm going to wait until I see her or her parents and give it directly to them. I don't want to risk the album getting lost or damaged in the mail. : ) My next project is the collage for my last contest winner. Mickey decided on a volleyball theme. I've been putting a lot of thought into my design and so far nothing has felt right.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

A wonderful service.
Any woman who reads this is and is age 40 or over go here and register. Any woman who is age 50 or over will really appreciate any reminder she can get, take my word on that! My mother-in-law, the BEST mother-in-law anyone could have, died from breast cancer. If only she had a mammogram every year. She waited to long. Please, please don't wait. Have your mammogram every year! Your loved ones, your family and your friends will thank you for having the screening exam done. They want you around for a long time.
If you have your mammogram in October like I do, go out and buy a bag of these. A thanks to yourself for having the exam over with. Although I said I wouldn't put education into my blog I can't help myself on this very important issue. Since I guess I'm on an education kick, want to know what I think about the importance of a Colonoscopy for everyone over the age of 50?
