Goodbye Paper Towels

I haven't purchased paper napkins in a long time. I'm always on the lookout for bargin cloth napkins that go with our kitchen & our dishes. Did you know food tastes better when you have a cloth napkin. It does! Cloth is also the "green" thing to do, "green" in the environment & your wallet.
My next "go green" thing will be to stop using paper towels. After this roll is gone there are two left. I think I'll like the look of the counter without the paper towels also.

Remember my homemade dish cloths? I'll be using them instead of paper towels.

Organic Green Gardening

I had an insect eat an entire field green plant. I knew it was a insect because a rabbit would have eaten the entire garden. There is also an inscet that likes my basil. The other herbs show no signs of being consumed.
At the Farmer's Market in Kingston, I told an organic farmer about my insect problem. She suggested I dust with garlic or spray garlic water onto the plants. So far the dusting seems to be working. There is NO way I would use any type of chemicals in my garden.

Earth Day

I always have the feeling that I need to do something. I always feel that I live in area where there is not something I can do. I always feel I'm not the type of person that does something. But, I was able to come up with something.

This is what I carry when I grocery shop.
Another good thing, the bags were free! Of course, you have to buy a pair of shoes to get a bag.

Weekend Recap

The weekend did not get off to a good start. The sweatshirt that I wore for the first two Syracuse NCAA games worked great, not so much for the third. Maybe it was because when Mike, Terri, Mick & I had a good luck toast prior to the start of the game I only had tea. Terri commented a toast should never be with water. I may have been to close. DARN
This was the highlight of the night & quite possibly the weekend. This could qualify as a green project. Deviled Eggs served in a cardboard egg carton. They looked & tasted great! Would be a nice addition to any Easter dinner!

The weekend went downhill when I cut my right thumb while in our attic searching for something to send to Amie. I reached into a box that contained a glass that had broken when it was transported from college to home. I'm NOT good with blood. It was all I could do to get down from the attic & call Mike & Terri to come & transport me to the ER. It was a three hour visit to find out a bunch of steri-strips & a tetanus shot was all I needed. Mick left for Boston early Saturday morning so he could watch the Celtic's play on Sunday night. I'm glad he didn't come home Monday to find me passed out in the attic. Can I have a weekend do over?
