SaD SAd sAd game

My birthday started off with Mimosa's and one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.

We then tailgated and yes they are actually on a tailgate.

Have to stay with the Orange & Blue theme even with the drinks. We can hope! The players did give it their all. It must be very discouraging. I at least hope they are taking advantage of their free education.
There was not much celebrating going on during the game but we did have fun. Just in case you don't know, the final score was 42 to 28. We think there was only about 22,000 fans in attendance. There might be more PSU fans in the Dome next Saturday than for SU. We have a wedding to attend & won't be able to go. I am looking for a volunteer to text me the final score of that game.
We then went to Joey's and finished the day with a delicious meal. As a special treat Mau was able to join us, thanks to Tim for taking over at Fay Ln.

50 Things at 50

Today is my very last day as a 50 year old. The year has gone by so fast. During my first month of being 50 I made a list of the THINGS that I love. Once I reach my one year blog anniversary I am going to have it printed into a book at blurb. I wanted to get this list into the book, it will make for great history, maybe not so great, but my history. Although, I'm not sure who would care, maybe my daughter. Unless you want to be bored, disregard the following list and go directly to the bottom of the page.

One of the benefits of having a blog is you get to decide the size of the pictures.

This birthday will be spent at the SU game, a game the predictors say they will win. We will also eat breakfast in Sackett's Harbor, go to the Carousel Mall, farmers market and finally Joey's for dinner. Hopefully at dinner we will toast a victory along with Terri's & my birthday. Terri will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday!!!

We have Harley's in the family.

Gary and Kevin each have a Harley. Don't know anything else about either cycles except, Gary's looks larger & it has already made a trip to Harley mecca, Sturgis.
I love the industrial look of this photo.
I was thrilled that Gary was willing to cooperate with my photo ideas. He moved the cycle from location to location and sat for as long as I requested.
This is the front of Kevin's cycle. These pictures look like they could be out of a Harley magazine, not sure if there is one.
There are so many great pictures of Kevin. It was hard for me to choose just a few.
Such a great looking biker boy!!

I'm a wimp and a chicken so I did not get a ride on either bike, they never did ask me. I guess they already knew my answer. I was given a motorcycle escort from our photo shoot location to their house and boy are those cycles are loud!

Butter Sculpture

The butter sculpture is the most unique exhibit of the NYS Fair.
This year was the 40th annual butter sculpture, "Hey Diddle Diddle" the sculptor used 400 pounds of butter.

Here's the dish and the spoon.

There was even a laughing dog. The case was very foggy. I am surprised the pictures came out as good as they did. I was not very impressed with this sculpture. I have seen many others with much more detail. Maybe butter sculpting is a dying art. Also, in past years the butter is donated to a charity for consumption. That's a good thing.

Remember, I still have the contest going. See the post from 08/29 or 30.

Great NYS Fair

Debbie and I along with 85,856 went to the fair on Saturday.
Mau, one of my most dedicated readers, this picture full post is for you!It was fun for me to show someone around who had never been to the NYS Fair.

I always enjoy seeing the animals. This sheep had the best curly coat.
She is working on the top of a cow, who most likely will not have this kind of attention once back on the farm. The girl & the cow.

Debbie thought she had seen boys with hair styles like this.
Seals are not native to NY.
We saw signs for "Hot Beef Sundaes" around the fair. They are good advertisers since we had to go find out what a beef sundae was.
My favorite exhibit was the quilts. Loved the border on this one.
The colors are not the typical Christmas red & green.
There are 50 blocks, one for each state. Each block was embroidered.
The flowers on this are three dimensional.
This is a traditional pattern with great color choices.
100 tons of sand, don't know how it is kept together.

Tomorrow I'll show & tell about the butter sculpture.

Contest from yesterday

Go here and look through the 8 pages of collages.
Guess which collage I am going to make for myself.
If you guess correctly, I will make a collage for you.
Your choice.
Post your guess here or on yesterday's post.
If more than one person guesses correctly, Mick will pull one name out of a hat.

Copying is the highest form of flattery....and a CONTEST

This is a common quote in clothing choices and decorating but, crafts?
I certainly hope so. I saw this and then the price tag, $140. I knew I was not going to buy it & I really loved the art. So, I went to my scrapbooking papers & put a collage together for Amie. Mine is on a stretched canvas not a piece of wood.
I don't like the green measuring tape, to late now. When I was arranging the papers I didn't like it then but went with it anyway. My thought was it would add more green. Don't know when I will learn to go with my first instinct. I am going to make another, one for myself. If you leave a comment & guess correctly what I'm going to copy, I'll make one for you, your choice. If there is more than one correct answer I'll have Mick pull a name.
It's almost the LONG weekend. I can't wait. Going to the state fair on Saturday. Debbie is going to be at Fay Ln so I get to show the fair to someone who has never been. Sunday, if Mick allows, I would love to sit on the deck. Unfortunately, we have a basement to clean out and he's done waiting. Maybe Labor Day can be our day of no Labor. May you have a labor free long weekend!!
