Nesting

Last week when I was going around the house trimming limbs off bushes & cutting flowers left over from last year, I spied a broken robins egg. I was sure that the baby robin had safely flown off by now.

A few more steps I found the nest. I've found lots of nests over the last several years and this one is by far the nicest. All the material is of the same kind & color and the nest is very tightly wound. Usually the nests I find are ready to fall apart. Some robin worked very hard on this one.

Guitar Girl

When living in LA Amie took up playing the guitar. Mick bought the guitar for her. Amie's friend, who is a wonderful guitar player, went into a shop and played a bunch to choose the one with the best tone.
It's a very pretty guitar.
She is teaching herself to play but would like to take lessons. I'm very, very, very musically challenged but even I can tell she gets better & better with every song.
Wondering about the photos? Our friends own a farm & I asked if I could go onto their land for photos.

Obama Cookies

I didn't see President Obama but I stood in the same spot he stood. During his trip to Canada he visited a bakery in the ByWard Market & apparently after his visit they named their cookies after him. Are they giving him royalties?
They have a great marketing strategy because we had to buy one just because of the name. I'm sure that strategy would not have worked with Mick. He would not have been persuaded. In fact it would have had the opposite affect on him. The cookies are good. Although, they are not the best sugar cookie I've ever tasted and I did not care for the frosting, it's a very hard glaze.

When life imitates art.

When I put a vase of tulips cut from our garden onto the kitchen table, I took notice of how similar the tulips looked like the water color hanging on the wall.
The yellows, golds, reds & greens all so much alike.
Too bad cut tulips didn't last longer.

Ottawa Tulip Festival

For many many years I've wanted to go to Ottawa to see the tulips. This year was finally the year. We went a week prior to the official start because of the warm weather I assumed some of the tulips would be ahead of schedule. Yeah, I made it!
Amie was with me.
This first tulip we saw had not yet bloomed & we started to get worried we wouldn't see any blooming tulips.
It was a great day and I would definitely go again.
