Door Wreath

We have a blue front door & most likely will have one until spring. When I hung the fall wreath I actually liked how it looked with the blue. I hope it's not just wishful thinking. I purchased blue ribbon and will attempt to make a winter wreath to go with the blue door. There were not many choices of blue ribbon but I did find one i liked.
Enough talk of winter.

Burning Bush

The burning bush in our side yard is living up to its name. One thing about this blog, I've learned a lot looking up different subjects. Oh boy, so sad.

Chair Pad

At a farmer's/flea market in MI I bought this hooked wool chair pad. It was only $2.00. I did have to spend $4.60 on dry cleaning when I got home. It's in great shape & the colors match the entrance to the kitchen/family room perfectly.
It is not hand made. I found an old faded tag on the back. I've been looking for a chair pad for this chair & I'm so happy with my find. I actually felt bad giving the two young boys running the sale only $2.00.

Weekend Visitor

Carrie spent the weekend with me. We ate out on Friday nite, my first time eating out at home in months! On Saturday I cooked turkey with all the trimmings, except the cranberry sauce that I forgot. We also did some crafts & I forced her to watch SU football. I taught her a lot about football. Like I told Cristina, football knowledge is a good dating skill to posses.
Carrie is working on a quote book. She has collected so many wonderful quotes.
Thanks so much for coming up Carrie! Come back soon.

Counted Cross Stitch

During my trip to MI Mick & I went into a yarn shop that also carried cross stitch products. I've never seen so many patterns in my life!! I went back a second time without Mick & looked all the patterns. I bought 2 additional patterns that day.
This is what the finished sampler will look like once I finish what I bought during that first shop visit. I plan to hang it in the family room. During my stay I completed all the letters, the bird and about half the pear. Mick thought the bird was strange looking. I love her!
Amie's friend Carrie from LeMoyne is coming to G2, her third visit, this weekend to stay with me. We plan to craft all weekend. I hope to get a lot more stitching done. Good thing about cross stitching is that you can watch TV and stitch & bring it with you when travel, unlike scrapbooking. This will be a good winter project!

Book Club

Michelle a Biography by Liza Mundy was our selection this month.
Our entire group agreed that this book is not a biography of Michelle but a history of Chicago politics. There is only bits & pieces on Michelle thrown in to events that happened during her life in Chicago. The book was interesting, if you like politics & for some strange reason our group does.
I will be hosting our November meeting, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. What a nice pick! We will also be choosing our selections for 2010, if anyone has any recommendations please let me know.
